This needs a license

You're signed in — that part worked. What you tried to open is part of a paid plan, and your account is currently on Explore, the free tier.

Nothing is wrong with your account and nothing needs fixing. You just need a license that covers this feature.

Checking your access…

Access depends on your university

Licenses are held by institutions, and each one chooses its own. Your access comes from the university you signed in through, so a colleague at another university may well have features you don't — and a paper or course that relies on them won't reproduce on your account.

If your department teaches with Quisim and you're missing something you expected to have, ask your instructor which license they hold. Institutional licenses cover every one of an instructor's students at no per-seat cost, so it is often already paid for and simply not yet extended to you.

If your university doesn't have one

You have two ways forward, and it's worth trying them in this order.

Ask your department to buy one. A university license covers every student of an instructor, so one purchase serves a whole course — usually for less than the students in it would spend individually. Point whoever handles it at pricing, or have them write to us and we'll work with your procurement process.

Or buy a student license yourself. Discounted, in your own name, and it works no matter what your university does — the sensible choice for a thesis or a capstone project on your own timeline.

If you just bought or extended a license

It may not have reached this session yet. Your access level is fixed for the life of a session and refreshes at most every few hours. Signing out and back in applies it immediately.

If neither of those is it

Tell us the address you signed in with and what you were trying to open, and we'll sort it out.
